Morakot Lanta Resort

Our corner room looked out over the forest and felt fairly private. The rooms were fine, though the bathrooms weren't great: drains were blocked, the wet room meant everything got soaked, and there was no hand soap. We asked for some and were met with a puzzled look and told they didn't have any. Other reviewers have mentioned it too. The pool is lovely and has plenty of loungers, but the place felt a bit dead. The owners' music choices were all over the place and often sleepy, with smooth jazz one day and Adele all day another. They did put on something livelier once, but the owner's grandma wasn't happy and switched it off. Better music and atmosphere could make it feel more social instead of quiet and awkward. The building is old, with thin walls, so guests returning at 2am disturbed us. And the word “resort” seems to be used pretty loosely in Thailand. This family-run place has been operating this way for a long time. It'd be great if they kept paying attention to feedback and made the stay better for everyone.

Our poolside room was clean, the shower was hot and good, and the bed was comfortable. The pool was okay, though the waterline needed scrubbing. We stayed three nights and didn't get room service. We had no problems and were happy with the room and price. There were hardly any other guests, which worked out well for us. Still, it's a shame because the place could be much nicer. The staff seemed more interested in their phones than cleaning or maintaining the hotel. It just felt like the love had left the place.

The staff were so friendly, and the restaurant food was excellent. We had a great stay, with a clean pool and comfortable beds. They also upgraded us to a nicer room for our last two nights.

We had six enjoyable nights here. The location on the island was very good, and the pool was nice. Our room had a balcony, and the staff were helpful. We booked a boat trip and rented a motorbike through the hotel.
