Phi Phi Beach Front Resort

The staff were kind, and the price is low, so you do get what you pay for. Still, the room was hot and dim, with poor air conditioning. It's basically a cheaply built shack at the far end of the beach, up a hill, though it is near a beach. The walls are thin, so we heard the beach party until 2am, then drunk people, then construction workers building the new development next door all night. I know local people may not have much money for upkeep, but it made for a noisy stay.

This side of the bay feels less crowded, so there's more room to yourself on the beach, even though shops are only a five-minute walk away. The view across the bay is beautiful, and the staff were lovely, helping carry our bags to the rooms and the pier. Each of us got one free kayak rental. Restaurants, bars, and shops are about a 10-minute walk along the white beach. You can hear music from bars all over this side of the island until 2am, so bring earplugs wherever you stay.

The view is nice, and lo dahlam bay has beautiful warm water, but the place sits right beside a big construction site for a new bungallow village. The heavy machinery and workers made it noisy and unpleasant. Getting to the room means climbing steep stairs, and the showers were in bad shape, with broken things and no shelf for toiletries. There isn't breakfast, and the nearest option means walking 500 meters along the beach and into town for a somewhat expensive meal, so it didn't feel like good value. Party noise was far enough away not to bother us, but if you're jngo lafties ghdy, they're too far away; otherwise the noise is noticeable.

The beach is right in front, and the restaurant next door was awesome, with really delicious food. I liked the beach view and the lovely big-sized cats, too. The room and toilet lighting were too dim, and the water tasted salty, which wasn't a great first impression. But it seems water is salty all over phi phi island, so I accepted it. The main downside for me was the aggressive flies.
