Phi Phi Chang Grand Resort & Spa

I appreciated being allowed to check in a little early, and the pool is lovely. The horse is interesting to watch and feed, too. The outdoor area feels like a tropical heaven. Still, the New wing deluxe room isn't new or deluxe. The bathroom had full blown mold growing in it, and washing it with bleach seems like an easy fix. That's shameful. I'd give it 4*.

The room was in rough shape, with a bad smell from the toilet, a very dirty closet, and a yellowing toilet. Everything seemed rusty. The bed was dirty and covered in a bunch of stains from some kind of fluid. I don't want to know what it was. There was no service, and reception didn't speak any English. The place is about 10 minutes' walk from Phi Phi Island's main area. The pool was okay, but very cold. I liked the owners' horse. It has a cool life, doing whatever it wants, and sometimes hangs around the "Lobby". In this condition, I can't recommend the room.

The price was really good, so if you just need an affordable place to sleep, you could book here. It was generally clean, and the fridge worked well. But the AC took an hour to cool the room and wasn't working properly, and bathroom water pressure was very weak. The receptionist can't speak English. Pillows were too high and uncomfortable, and there were stains on the bed and pillow. I added photos.

We came across some cockroaches on the first night, but not the second. The AC worked well and the pool was lovely. It's around a 15 min walk from the pier, and reception can arrange to wheel your luggage for 100 baht. The hotel itself had no smell, which we were happy about, since Phi Phi island in general is quite a smelly place. We stayed two nights in a basic bungalow by the pool. When we arrived, the hotel horse greeted us, which was quite an experience! We hadn't expected much since we didn't book one of the more expensive rooms. For the price, the stay was okay. It's a nice spot for a couple of quiet nights away from the party. Thanks for having us.
