Phi Phi Villa Resort

The beach is right across the road, with sun loungers for guests, and the mornings there are beautifully quiet, with crystal-clear water. It gets busier with visiting boats around midday. We used the designated swimming area every day, and spotted both a monitor lizard and a puffer fish. Keep in mind that high tide leaves little beach, while at low tide you have to walk farther out. There’s also a nice pool with lots of loungers. Staff were friendly, arranged a six-hour private longtail boat from the hotel beach for the same price as in town, and provided beach towels outside regular hours. The on-site shop is open 24/7, and drinks cost only about 5 baht more than in the center. We stayed in the luxury villas twice and had consistently good experiences. They’re comfortable, and on our second visit we were lucky to get one close to the beach. Breakfast is fully halal with a reasonable range, though much of it was the same each day. It’s a 3-star hotel, so there are no slippers, bathrobes, or dental kits, which fits the price. The hotel is about a scenic 10-minute walk from the center, with restaurants, drinks, massage places, and laundrettes along the way. They meet you at the island pier to collect your luggage on arrival, and on departure drop the bags near McDonald’s, which makes catching the outbound ferry easy. Reliable stay, and we’ll be back.

The beachfront seating area is lovely and relaxing, and the complex itself is very beautiful with direct access to the beach. But the rooms feel neglected and dirty, especially the bathroom, which needs better cleaning and maintenance. The beds are so hard that a good night’s sleep is difficult. Staff weren’t very friendly and didn’t speak English well, and they seem to charge extra for nearly everything, which feels uncomfortable. Breakfast has very few options, and the coffee machine never works. The location has a lot of potential, but the cleanliness, comfort, and service need serious improvement. P.S. The view was stunning, and waking up to it each morning made the trip feel special. Our room stayed spotlessly clean and fresh throughout, and the housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds we’ve slept in, and we actually woke rested. The shower was huge, with great pressure, and felt like a spa. We loved our stay and would come back. If you want the luxury basics done right, this place delivers.

The morning buffet was really good, and when we had an early boat ride, they arranged breakfast for us 15 minutes before the usual start. Staff were polite and helpful. The resort is spacious, with sea-view rooms, and the villa rooms were very roomy and clean. They have benches by the beach where you can sit and relax, and that stretch wasn’t very crowded, as only guests used the area. From Tonsai pier, a staff member escorts you to the resort, about a 15-minute walk. We’d definitely like to stay at the same place next time we’re on Phi Phi Island.
