The bar downstairs is well worth a visit. Kay, the manager, told us about the place’s history, and we had fun playing old school board games. My fiancè said this was easily the best place we’d stayed in Thailand. The staff were so friendly and let us leave our bags at 9am even though check in wasn’t until 2pm. After coming from a resort with no air con or WiFi and a 20 minute walk through rocky jungle, this felt like a 5 star all inclusive resort.

The view is great and the place has a cute feel, but pollution ruins it. There’s garbage all around, and an open sewer runs along two sides before emptying into the bay out front. The sewage smell is there most of the time. Unless the wind is just right, it’s nauseating. The nightclub next door blasts music late into the night, then the drunk people leaving are even louder. There are all forms of pollution here.

At the end of the street, this is a charming, unusual hotel. Staff were kind and helpful, and our room was spacious with a sea view. I’d stay here again if I return to the island.
