Aloha Resort (SHA Extra+)

The hotel is tucked away from the main road, so it stays quiet, yet it’s only a few minutes’ walk from Lamai’s nightlife and night market. There’s a lovely pool, a little beach bar and a massage hut looking out over a beautiful beach and the sea. A great spot in Lamai.

Our rooms were filthy and unhygienic, with a broken toilet and clear maintenance problems. They were still sold at full price despite these defects. When we raised the issues, the front desk showed no professionalism or willingness to help, and simply ignored them. The worst part was that our payment was withheld despite the room defects and service failures, with no reasonable resolution offered. This felt dishonest and showed disregard for guests. I’m sharing this so other travelers don’t waste their money, time or vacation here. The hotel seems more concerned with collecting payment than meeting basic hospitality standards. Strongly not recommended. Never again. Avoid at all costs.

We spent 3.5k baht a night on this property, and the experience was misleading information, no hospitality and very unprofessional behavior from the manager. We booked two nights and wanted to add a third. Mr. Juan repeatedly said the hotel was fully booked, though rooms appeared available online, so we booked the extra night ourselves. Even though we stayed three nights in a row and rooms were available, we had to move rooms every day. There was no flexibility or courtesy, and better-view rooms were never offered. A twin room was the only option shown when booking, and our request for a double bed was bluntly refused despite availability. On the day of our expensive trip, pickup was due between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m. Breakfast starts at 7, and I told Mr. Juan we were going to eat and asked him to call when the cab arrived. He agreed, but the cab came and left without anyone telling us. When I confronted him, he laughed, denied responsibility and said it was our fault because calling us wasn't his job and guests had to come to the lobby. We nearly missed the paid trip and had to rush to the pier on a scooty, which felt stressful and unsafe. The amenities were shockingly poor: when we asked for water during a slow check-in, they said it was only provided in the room. There was handwash, but no shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dental kit or iron. Even basic budget hotels provide these essentials. This place doesn’t deserve a 3-star rating. Not recommended.

The rooms were large and the staff friendly, and the resort sits right by Lamai beach. The grounds are beautiful, but the furniture and bathroom are functional and very old. I didn’t try the food. There’s no elevator, and nobody was there to help carry luggage, so accessibility isn’t great.
