What we came back to was a guitar missing from our room. A staff member had gone in while we were out and passed it to other guests, without asking us. The room door was not left secure, either. That was a real shock. We had gone out because the manager had failed to arrange the meal we requested. The hotel can only be reached by boat, something the booking information doesn't mention, so we had no other way to get food. When we raised it, he asked, “What do you want me to do?” and walked off. It might have been a simple mix-up, but he never spoke to us again or tried to help. We eventually found a boat to a nearby restaurant in the middle of the night. The short, two-minute ride cost a lot. The place was also extremely dirty. There was rubbish everywhere, old stuff in the bathroom, and an unbelievable amount of dust. Calling it “authentic” doesn't make that acceptable. I live in Thailand and know the country well, and Thai people aren't dirty. The setting is unusual and charming, but the lack of upkeep spoils it. We'd expected somewhere quiet, but one neighbor played loud music late, another sang and played guitar with friends, and the manager held karaoke in the room below us with his friends until 1 AM. For this price, Thailand has much better places with good service and respect for guests. This felt like a complete scam. Dirty, noisy, unfriendly staff. I absolutely don't recommend it.

We wanted to give my two friends, who were visiting Thailand for the first time, a different sort of trip from the usual tourist spots. I stumbled across this place on a map while looking for the island out beyond Bkk. It was so peaceful and relaxing, and ended up being the best time we spent in Bangkok. Dinner was a Thai-style BBQ, and it felt very luxurious for what it cost. I'd definitely recommend it to travelers looking to try something new.

The setting and atmosphere were lovely, but the food mix-up left us with nowhere to eat. On arrival, we asked what was available. The owner mentioned beer and moo kra-ta, quoted the price, and we agreed. Later, someone else described the dish as pork, beef, seafood, and vegetables, and said it would be ready at 7:00 PM. At about 6:50, I went back to the first person to ask for our moo kra-ta. He said we hadn't ordered it, then said he'd told us he was going to the market and that we could order food. We had told him we wanted moo kra-ta. He wouldn't take responsibility or even apologize, and said there would be no food because we hadn't “ordered” anything. We had to take a boat elsewhere to find dinner. When we returned around 8:40 PM, someone had been in our room while we were away. The guitar inside was gone and the door wasn't properly closed. That felt like a serious invasion of privacy. We paid 1,500 baht a night, yet it seemed anyone could enter our room as if we weren't paying guests. Where was the security or respect? It was an extremely frustrating and disappointing stay.

The peaceful surroundings, sunset, and fireflies made our stay lovely, and breakfast was included. It feels like a chance to see what life by the river might be like. The owner built the house himself, which gives it a cozy feel. The hosts were generous and polite, and you can ask them to make dinner at home. A nice option for getting away from the city bustle.

A good spot to unwind away from the busy surroundings. The owner is friendly, and the cats are sweet and approachable too. We had their BBQ dinner, which was tasty and a generous portion. Just check whether there's flooding nearby, since you may have to travel by boat.
