The staff are friendly and helpful, and there are several great breakfast and dinner spots within walking distance. I believe the hotel also has a small kitchen. It’s a pleasant little hotel in a quieter part of the islands, with spacious rooms and almost direct access to the pool. The pool area is ideal for relaxing. Shower water pressure could be better, though that’s to be expected on the island.

We struggled with heavy Canabis use by other guests, and staff didn’t tell them not to smoke. I was really worried about the effect on our health. I believe Canabis is illegal in Thailand, so I wonder why the resort didn’t manage this illegal activity.

After staying at thousands of resorts and hotels as a world traveler, Amaya Resort is still one of my favorite places. The location is central, the rooms are just wow, and the restaurant is delicious. The staff are super friendly, the owner stays on top of everything, and the whole experience is magnificent. I HIGHLY recommend booking here. It’s usually at 100% capacity year round, so book way in advance. Thank me later!

The walkable mix of shops, bars, and restaurants nearby is a real plus, with plenty of choice for different needs. Amaya is still our favorite resort on Koh Phangan. The bungalow-style rooms sit right by the pool and feel cosy, and the staff are so friendly and attentive that we feel at home. The location may not suit everyone: it isn't right on the beach, and Hinkong Beach isn't a wide stretch of white sand. Still, we'd clearly recommend staying here while on Koh Samui.
