Bunkhouse Koh Phangan

I liked how sociable the hostel was while still being quiet in the evenings when people wanted to sleep. The common areas had fans and were great for spending time in, and there were plenty of racks for drying towels and clothes. Everything was kept very clean, even though the layout is open. The rooms have keycard access, lockers and lots of room for your belongings. I didn’t rent a scooter, but the beach, restaurants and grocery stores were all an easy five-minute walk away. Mango and Ildar were welcoming, and the cleaning staff were always friendly. One of my best hostel stays.

Such a good place to unwind and meet people without it feeling too busy. The dorms and facilities were clean, the beds comfortable, and free tea, water and cookies were available. There’s a fridge and microwave too. The owner and her family were lovely, especially her little son. You can play table tennis in the garden, and borrow yoga mats and volleyballs. The chill-out areas are great, and the beach is right nearby. I’d stay again anytime.

I got a suggested island tour plan from the owner and her husband, though I think I only found time to do it later in my stay. The villa-style hostel has a really nice modern, open layout, and the dorms feel high quality, with privacy curtains, air conditioning and clean, new fittings. There’s also an outdoor living room with a movie wall, which is a lovely touch. I was lucky to share a dorm with a lovely group of British women, and our conversation on the first night made the stay memorable. A real hostel gem.

Mango and Ildar really made us feel welcome and made sure we were enjoying our stay. One night we even had dinner with Mango’s family, which was so kind of them. There’s loads of room to work, relax and spend time with other people, and the layout makes it easy to socialize. The small kitchen has hot water, a microwave, a big fridge and free drinking water. It was also spotlessly clean. I met some great people here and would absolutely recommend it to solo travellers.
