Haad Khuad Resort

We booked 3 nights but left after just 1. In my month in Thailand, these were the most dishonest people I came across. Before you confirm on booking platforms, they conceal important information about the property. You can't reach the "resort" on your own. You have to take a jeep taxi or boat taxi, at least 100 THB per person each way. You'll need to make those trips because, despite the beach being one of Thailand's most beautiful, there's absolutely nothing there. For a proper meal or even snacks, you have to leave. All the restaurants on that beach, including the one at the “resort”, were shockingly bad, which I hadn't thought possible in Thailand. There's no market, so daily trips are unavoidable, and you can't make them after 7pm. The "resort" is filthy. The rooms were dirty, and it surrounds a lake full of garbage. The so-called front desk guy seemed like a homeless person they'd taken in, fed, and sheltered, then told to sit around pretending to manage guests. He clearly didn't know how. I worked in hospitality for years, and this was appalling. Don't go. They may try to cover up the filth and fool guests with the beautiful beach, but don't be misled. “To cast pearls before swine” fits this place perfectly. PS: They'll probably reply on Booking by calling us liars and saying they provide all the information, since they know we can't respond and expose them further. Believe me, they're the dishonest ones. If you go, you'll see exactly what I mean.

There are three different restaurant/bars with amazing food at very reasonable prices. We could have stayed a month without leaving, and if you want to relax in the quietest, most beautiful resort on the island, this is it. The staff were fantastic, and the resort sits on one of the island's most stunning, idyllic beaches. Yes, the road is extremely bumpy and steep, and you can also take a water taxi. Signs clearly say not to try the road on a scooter. Unless you're a professional or master driver, even taking your own 4x4 would be a serious effort. The resort taxi driver handles it every day and was one of the best drivers I've seen. We never had a problem on any of our trips. Some people leave bad reviews about the road and taxis without doing their research, and blame the resort for their own mistakes. Exploring the whole island can get pricey, but for a peaceful beach stay, this place is amazing.

A lot of people, me included, booked without checking the location first, which is why I think there are bad reviews. If you're an experienced driver and aren't afraid of a dangerous road, you can bring your motorcycle. Otherwise, you can park it on the hill before the rough part. It's safe to leave there for days, and the resort driver can check it daily. Contact the resort for a pickup, which costs 100 baht, or 150 if you're the only passenger. Walking from the resort to the hill takes around 40 mins. There are no small stores at the cove, and 7/11 and Tops are really far away, so I'd buy what you need on the mainland before going. There are around 3 restaurants in the area, so not much variety. There may be a brownout from 4-6pm. The wifi connection is good, but the signal can be really bad. If you want to save on transport, be ready to stay at the resort or walk. The staff were amazing, which helps make up for the transportation hassle.

They kept us waiting for check-in even though we arrived in the early Evening, then the receptionist yelled at me, saying he was stressed because there were a lot of Bookings. He should complain to his Boss, not his Guests. That's very bad behaviour, and you can't act that way in Hospitality. The Rooms have no Fridge, and they don't even provide a free bottle of water. They take advantage of the secluded location, where you can't just go to 7-eleven and buy water. The Shuttle to the Motorbike Parking was quoted at 100 Baht per Person each way, but they wanted 200 instead. That's a Ripoff. Very bad Service Level. I won't return, and I'll spend my Money elsewhere.
