The Beach Village - Hostel

We booked through an agency in Bangkok after the beachside photos caught our eye. The place does have a nice pool with a bar and sits right by the beach. But our budget room was tiny, and the shower was awkwardly placed. We paid around 2100tbh for three nights, which felt pricey. The bed was okay, though the base underneath looked in such bad shape that I wondered if it was a rat nest. Then I woke at 2am with a rat walking on me. Not a good experience. Getting attention at the restaurant was hard too, we had to beg for it. I won't be back.

The staff were very helpful, and the pool was great. It was also an easy walk to the night market. We liked sitting on the bungalow balcony to dry off after the pool or beach. The rooms, though, were horrible: insects everywhere, lizards getting in, and an uncomfortable bed with springs poking up.

The location is near the pier, but the nicer beaches are far away in the northern part of the island, and the beach here wasn't what I'd expect from one. The pool was okay, though snakes did fall from the trees there. Bugs and mosquitoes were everywhere, and the room was nowhere near worth the price. The bed was very uncomfortable, with no proper sheets, just a tiny blanket full of holes. It looked nothing like the pictures and felt abandoned. Please don't waste your money or let those so-called “travel agencies” talk you into staying here.

The customer service was good, but the wooden bungalow was terrible. There’s no AC, and the gaps between the doors and roof let geckos, snakes, and mosquitoes come inside. It was either too hot or too windy indoors. The toilet and shower looked dirty, there was no water heater, and the water was constantly yellow because the pipes are old. There’s no noise insulation, so every night I heard bass from the nearby party hostel, along with the rain and wind. I could even hear the couple in the next bungalow having sex. On top of that, the high season price is very high for a place this bad.
