Moonway Bungalows

We spent our honeymoon here and would happily recommend it. The bungalows feel almost new inside, and the housekeepers provide everything you need. It’s only five minutes from one of the best beaches, and the terrace has a perfect sunset view.

The views are great, the TV is huge, and the host replies quickly on WhatsApp and tried to meet extra requests. But this was my worst stay in Koh Phangang during my 2.5 months on the island. There’s construction noise every day of the week, from 8am until 5-6pm. It’s so loud that the accommodation is hard to use during the day, and the site looks like it could keep going for at least another year. The listing says there might be construction noise, which I found misleading. The bungalow has no soundproofing, and there’s also a weekly party at a bar on a nearby hill. Its music is loud enough to disturb sleep across the bay. Getting up to the place is a horrible, dangerous climb. Unless you’re moderately fit, I wouldn’t book it. I don’t understand why they haven’t built proper stairs. The shower pressure was weak, there’s basically no staff onsite, and cleaning is every five days unless you ask for something else. At around €35 a night, the price would make more sense to me.

The balcony view was the highlight, and we found the apartments clean, modern, and free of bugs. The cleaning staff were friendly and attentive, and the hosts responded quickly on WhatsApp. When we asked to add a night, they promptly arranged another room, which we really appreciated. We stayed three nights, two in Apartment 3 and one in Apartment 1. Apartment 3 had a very comfortable bed, while the mattress in Apartment 1 was far too hard. Both had a kitchen, bathroom, bed, and nice balcony. Getting to Apartments 1-5 means tackling a very steep staircase, especially difficult with luggage. There’s a large construction site right behind the property, with work from around 8:30 AM-9:00 PM. We got a discounted rate because of it. The apartments are poorly insulated and noisy, and you can hear a nearby disco clearly, with bass noticeable in the room. Earplugs are provided. We were still comfortable overall, but the noise would cost it a star for us.

The apartment was clean and suited us as a couple. Our trip was lovely, and the host told us about lots of nice places on the island. One of the best places to stay.
