Haad Yao Over Bay Resort

The staff were absolutely unfriendly, rude, and unhelpful. We went for dinner with a small child and felt like we were bothering them, even though the restaurant was almost empty, with just a few people outside on the beach having drinks. The food was only okay. This was the worst place we visited in Thailand. Don’t expect anything nice from these guys or any help. Avoid it. Management, please change the bar staff.

We didn’t stay here, but ate at the restaurant several times. The Thai food was decent and reasonably priced for a beachfront restaurant in this area. The friendly manager showed us the rooms: during low season they were 700 Baht a night, large and spacious, with big balconies, though the balconies didn’t overlook the ocean.

At first I thought the staff weren’t very friendly, but after spending a few days here I realized the guests were the real problem. I’ve never seen tourists behave so rudely, bossing people around and making ridiculous requests. The staff deserve a trophy for putting up with some of them. It was disgusting to watch. If you’re from the Middle East or Russia, learn to behave like a human being before travelling, or better yet, don’t travel.

The view is amazing, but dinner wasn’t good. The curry seemed premade, mixed with chicken and potatoes, and the fried rice tasted like dried supermarket rice. Our drinks didn’t arrive until after dinner, too late for me because I don’t like having my beer afterward.
