The nature and the overall vibe were what won me over, so I’m still giving it 4 stars. It really does feel like you’re staying in nature, and the open-air toilet was pretty cool. You can hear geckos or other animals moving around on the roof, which makes sense if you’re happy being close to nature. The big problem was hearing the neighbors every single night, and they could hear me too. The sound insulation needs work. With the hotel’s otherwise perfect vibe, better soundproofing would make this an amazing place.

It gets quite dark at night, which was my main downside. Otherwise, I liked the distinctive design, and the room was roomy with a high ceiling. The half-open bathroom and toilet have a roof over part of them. The fruit-scented shampoo and body wash were memorable, and I liked the smell. There’s also a small kitchen area and a mini fridge. I don’t think they offer room service. The staff were friendly, including the pickup service from the harbor and back from the hotel. There’s a motorcycle rental place and laundry service about a seven-minute walk away.

We booked four months ahead for New Year’s, but our room wasn’t available when we arrived. We were sent around in circles, and the staff barely spoke English. Thankfully, Expedia arranged a stay for us at a beautiful beach villa.
