High Life Bungalow

The restaurant was a great place to spend time, with an open-air setup, a lovely view, good food, and hours that worked well. I could even get some work done there. We had a spacious, clean Double Bed Bangalow with Sea view, and the view was superb. At night, the waves were what you heard as you fell asleep. The receptionist was kind and quick to help with anything I needed. I’d happily come back.

We loved the restaurant, both the food and service. The smoothie bowls at breakfast and the Masaman curry for dinner were especially good, the best food and service we’ve had so far on Koh Phangan. From the infinity poll and restaurant, both perched on the cliff edge, there’s a brilliant view across the whole bay. A little staircase takes you straight down to the beach. It’s a beautiful small resort right above the water.

The restaurant food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We especially loved being able to switch off the air conditioning and open both windows in our wooden bungalow with an Ocean View. There were mosquito nets on everything, which made that feel comfortable. In other places we’ve stayed, open windows weren’t really practical and often felt uncomfortable, but here it worked perfectly. We absolutely loved the place.

The rooms were in poor shape, and I wouldn’t recommend a stay here beyond one night, if at all. They’re extremely dated and basic, and the bathroom badly needs remodeling. For the price, the condition just doesn’t add up. It felt like neglected backpacker accommodation. The stairs are another problem: the property sits above the beach, and there’s no other way down than a long flight, so it won’t work for anyone with mobility issues. I also wouldn’t find the comfort suitable for families or women traveling alone. The location is nice and the on-site restaurant is a highlight, but those positives don’t make up for the room and access issues.
