Rainbow Bungalows

Getting us a taxi to the pier at 4AM was a big help. The staff are lovely, the Thai food at the restaurant is great and cheap, and although I’d read complaints that the bar was noisy at night, we didn’t find that to be true. Most bungalows have a great sea view, and it’s only a two-minute scooter ride from Haad Rin Beach. I’d seen plenty of mixed reviews before booking, so I was surprised by how at home I felt. The rooms aren’t huge, but they have what you need, including AC and warm showers. For the low price per night, it was a great stay. I’d come back. Thank you.

We lasted five hours before checking out because the room was so dirty. We expected it might not be spotless after reading earlier reviews, but it was worse than we thought: a frog, a lizard and a cockroach were inside, and finding the cockroach on the bed was the final straw. The surfaces were grimy and the bed didn’t look like it had been cleaned properly either. It felt like the room hadn’t had a real clean at all. For what we got, the place was 100% overpriced. Filthiest place I’ve ever stayed.

The worst part was the construction starting at 8 am. We asked if they could move, but workers came back several times to work on our Bengalu while we were still inside. When we told reception that wasn’t okay, they laughed. The stay was deeply unpleasant. The charging doesn’t work, upkeep is awful, the beds are small, and the cleaning is poor. I’d never return.

We found it expensive for such basic accommodation, and the rooms were loud and not very clean. There were cows making noise constantly, a dead lizard in our fridge, and someone else’s toenail clipping on the bed. We stayed three nights around the full moon party. The room had the basics, an ensuite, fridge, aircon and a small balcony, but that was about it.
