Starlight Resort

The pool and location were great, and we enjoyed our stay. The staff were helpful, and there’s a big store right by reception. The rooms were cleaned every day, though don’t expect a deep clean. At this price in Thailand, we’re convinced deep-cleaned rooms hardly exist anymore, though there may be exceptions. Our room could use more furniture. Two extra tables would help. If you rent a scooter nearby, you can get to good food spots in town or over the hill.

You’re right on one of Koh Phangan's most beautiful beaches, and the beds are comfortable. There’s also a good restaurant nearby with a breathtaking view. Just be wary of the receptionist: we once left our keys in the room, and she immediately wanted us to pay for a replacement. Well, that’s just how it is in Thailand.

The location and pool are amazing, but the rooms need renovation and, especially, better cleaning. The receptionist was extremely rude and accused us of missing towels. She took money from our deposit without discussing it, and the way she handled the accusation was unbelievable. It’s not about the €20, it’s how she communicated. We weren’t even given a chance to call the manager. She kept saying our stay was over and basically tried to kick us out. The receptionist’s behavior felt like a scam.

The standard room they gave me was horrible: dirty, uncared for, and broken in places, with serious mold or construction problems. They refused to move me to another room. The woman, who I assume is the owner, didn’t speak any English and wouldn’t offer a solution. This is supposed to be a resort, but it isn’t. Don’t stay here. It felt like a scam, and the place looked completely different from the photos on the booking apps. I reserved through Agoda, and they didn’t offer me a solution either.
