Samed Grand View Resort

The beach is right there, with lovely clear water, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby along with a 7-11 and a massage shop. Our room at Samed Grand View Resort was spacious, clean and really comfortable. Reception, the porter and housekeeping were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast counter staff could have been a bit friendlier and made guests feel more welcome. Still, we had a very pleasant, relaxing beach holiday.

The “jacuzzi suite” bears little resemblance to the photos. You open the door straight onto the toilet, then go upstairs to the bedroom, which has no closet at all, just a coat rack. The jacuzzi is on a balcony facing the street, with no privacy or screening and no connection to the bedroom. People walking past can wave at you. Maybe that suits some people. Service was incompetent. I asked for water for three days, and each time was told it would come right away, but it never did. At the beach bar, nobody checked on customers and staff stood with their backs to us. You can order with a QR code, but once they close your ticket it stops working for another order, so you have to go up and ask for a new one. They won't come over or notice you. The king bed was two twin beds pushed together with a gap down the middle. The two small bottles of water were never replenished. Given what you get and how they operate, they should charge a quarter of the price. A small beer costs 120 here, compared with 70 elsewhere. Go somewhere else, then walk past for their free fire show at 8pm.

We were a group using three or four rooms, and none of the rooms got looked after. Mosquitoes kept us awake all the first night, buzzing in our ears and biting our cheeks, arms and necks. The next day we asked reception to deal with the mosquitoes and clean the rooms. My girlfriend came back five minutes later to remind them, and staff promised a cleaner would take care of it within 10 minutes. We went to dinner, but when we returned nothing had changed and nobody had come. We were furious. This was the worst hotel in Thailand for us. The same thing happened in the other rooms our group had. Samed Grand View Resort management needs to do more than hand guests Soffel packs. You wouldn't want your own kids or family to be itchy and covered in bites, either. If this kind of service continues to be neglected, I'd tell people to stay away from the hotel.

The island is beautiful, but after our first night we couldn't wait to leave. We were there for three nights, and loud music started early in the morning and went on until around midnight. The windows and roof shook, and there was no respect for guests trying to rest. We complained, but staff didn't seem to care. The staff weren't friendly at all. Maybe it was because I am not Farang. We couldn't sleep during our stay because of all the disturbances. Sewage started leaking and overflowing just outside our room, and the smell was disgusting. This was our first and last visit, and we're never coming back. Other hotels may be better, but please don't stay here or you may have the same experience.
