Samed Cliff Resort

We paid ₹12k, but after check-in the hotel staff left and there was no room service. The restaurant shut early without telling us or helping us figure out dinner. Breakfast had no options beyond bread, butter, and egg. I think the manager was a very unfriendly lady, and the staff were extremely unfriendly too. The manager was rude and not helpful at all. We were totally disappointed with the service. The property is secluded, and we didn’t feel safe. I think we were the only guests there. They are cheats. Please don’t choose this resort, you’ll regret it.

It’s a peaceful, quiet stretch of the island, and that’s really what you’re paying for, since the price feels a little high for what you get. The beach and pool are nice, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are dated but okay. There were annoying ants in the room, though bug spray took care of them. The food is typical hotel food. It’s around a 20-minute walk from the pier and main area. They don’t rent motorbikes, so it’s worth renting one at the pier when you arrive or taking a taxi. This isn’t a busy part of the island at all.

The private beach is small but lovely, with nice views of the mainland. Koh Samed beaches can be crowded, so we appreciated having this space. The pool is also nice, though it was much busier than the beach. Staff were kind and helpful, including with arranging taxis. Getting around was the main drawback. It’s about a 25-minute walk to the 7/11 and 30-35 minutes to the main town. You can rent motorbikes, but that didn’t work for us, and taxis took a long time to arrive. There are a few good places to eat nearby, but not many, which got a bit tedious. For someone visiting from Bangkok, it’s a good-value stay with your own villa. But if you’re expecting a Thai island resort holiday, you might be disappointed, though that’s more about Koh Samed than the hotel. Our room was clean, with a lovely window looking straight at the sea. The bathroom was older and the shower pressure low, but it really wasn’t bad. The breakfast and check-in area felt sparse and budget-like, which let the resort down a bit. If that area were improved, I’d have given it five stars.

The private beach is beautiful, and the resort is a good place for a quiet vacation. Breakfast was the letdown: there weren’t many options, and for the price the hotel charges, it didn’t taste that good. Still, I had a good experience overall.
