Asian Secret Resort

Everything was perfect. The hotel is lovely, the owner is amazing, and I had a wonderful stay and a great time with the staff. Khop khun krap! ☺️

There were cobwebs and a lot of insects, and I couldn’t sleep without worrying about bugs and mosquitoes getting into the bed and under the pillow. I booked seven nights but left after four. The room itself was okay, but it felt more like lodging in a hut than staying at a hotel or resort. It was fairly small, definitely not 20 square metres. Nobody cleaned the room during my stay, even after I put out the cleaning sign. I got no fresh towels, and the ones I had smelled funny after one use. Water wasn’t replenished, and the sheets had blood stains. There was no staff around morning, noon, or night. When I arrived, nobody was at the desk or anywhere else in the resort, so I walked out back to a hut where I believe the owner or manager stays and found someone there. They were friendly, like most Thai people, but after I’d paid, they didn’t seem interested in whether I needed anything. After my fourth night, when I’d managed about two hours of sleep, I couldn’t stay any longer and booked somewhere else for the rest of my time in Koh Samui. The manager wasn’t around when I went to raise the issue, so I left the key in the door and walked out. I messaged them on both Booking.com and WhatsApp to explain that I was leaving because of the poor cleanliness and the complete lack of management, cleaners, or fresh supplies like towels. I asked for a refund for the remaining three nights and got no reply. I’d paid in full on arrival for all seven nights, and I assume they want to keep the money. I’m not holding my breath about getting it back. This place was totally overpriced for what you get. I rebooked at the Beach Resort Hotel five minutes away, also a four-star hotel, where I’m staying now, and the difference is outstanding. I wish I’d gone there first. I’d avoid this place.

A rat and a lizard got into the room through small gaps in the roof. After one terrible, sleepless night, I left. They did refund me for the one unused night.

It’s a beautiful hotel, but be careful if you’re prone to bites. The grounds are really green, and I’ve been bitten to death.
