Baan Napoli Luxury Villa

The villa feels past its prime and needs a lot of attention. It needs repairs and a proper clean to bring it back into shape, and I wouldn't consider it suitable for children.

The only thing we loved was the fantastic view. Access to the house was difficult, though still manageable given the rest of the situation. We stayed only about four hours in this so-called luxury house, just long enough to find somewhere decent to stay. At €500 a night, it was hard to accept the rooms smelling of sewage. In the downstairs bedroom, rats or some other creatures were moving around in the false ceiling. The noise was striking during the day, and I can't imagine how it would have been at night. The pool was missing about 30 tiles, and cables from the spotlights were hanging in the water, which looked genuinely dangerous. The kitchen was in bad shape: the dishwasher was awful and the sink worse. Cables were all over the house, inside and out, joined with terminal blocks. Paint was peeling everywhere, and some amateurish renovation work had left paint splashes all over. There was clutter wherever I looked. One in every three bulbs didn't work, and the living room lighting was so poor it was hard to see. The living room air conditioning also didn't work. When we arrived, it seemed the trash from the previous ten guests hadn't been taken out. I called the owner, who tried to negotiate a discount for us to stay. He said he'd received quotes to fix the pool and kitchen, but that the house would have to close for a month to do the work, making repairs difficult. He also said nobody had ever complained about the other issues.

The rooms were clean and nice, and the service was friendly. We had a beautiful sea view. Breakfast is available with the accommodation, and renting motorbikes is worthwhile for getting there.
