Baan Suan Sook Resort

The staff were friendly and the pool was nice, but I wouldn't rate this as a three-star hotel based on my stay. We had a ground-floor room near the road, and the traffic, people shouting, and planes taking off made it hard to sleep. The room felt grubby and needed renovation, and the shower wasn't good. The sliding windows didn't lock, which made it easy for someone to get in and take our things. There was no lockable safe for passports or money. It also wasn't as close to everything as some reviews suggest. Rooms higher up the hill might be better, but I'd avoid the cheap option.

The rooms and bungalows are spacious, and the pool area at the top of the hill has lovely views. The owner or manager was very welcoming, and the staff had the big smiles you see from many Thai people. There is quite a lot of uphill walking, so it may be hard if you have mobility issues. Otherwise, Central Festival is about a five-minute walk away.

We spent just over a week at Baan suan sook, and it felt like good value. It's simple, but very clean and had what we needed. The pool and its spectacular view were lovely, and our friendly host was easy to reach whenever we needed anything. Town, the beach, and the night Market ( Thurs to Sat) are all within walking distance. We'd happily stay again. Loved it.

A quiet tropical garden setting, with the Samui Festival mall only a five-minute walk away. Following the shortcut to the beach road makes the location quite good too, with nightlife and the beach road a few minutes away. There are a couple of nearby, low-key restaurants with decent food. Staff were friendly and the service pleasant, and the pool at the top of the hill is amazing. The bungalows sit on a steep slope, so be ready for a climb. Good value accommodation.
