DK1 Hostel

The hostel has a well-equipped kitchen where you can make your own meals, and it’s close to popular Chaweng beach, Samui’s nightlife hub. I met some great people there and loved hearing their stories. DK mama looks after the place as if it were her own home and makes a point of greeting and chatting with every guest. It felt like a home away from home in Koh Samui. Thanks for taking care, mama. See you soon.

We only spent two nights at DK1, but it already feels special to us. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious and have what you need. There’s plenty of coffee and water, and the beach, 7 eleven, and stadium are just around the corner. Still, nothing compares to DK mama. She has such a lovely, warm spirit and makes strangers feel like family. My partner had hurt their foot, and I was coming down with a cold. Mama helped us get ice, checked that we were safe and comfortable, and even offered to fetch dinner for us. She handles the hostel needs herself and works incredibly hard, but always found time for a chat and a laugh. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. And meow meow the cat is the sweetest, most lovable girl. Thank you for everything, mama. Your Scottish girls won’t forget you ❤️

Tharita (Mama) makes you feel like part of her family, and I’ve never had that from another host on the island. She’s humble and does her best to meet everyone’s needs, running the hostel by herself, so be kind and don’t expect miracles. She’ll do everything she can, often before you even have to ask. She even cooked free pasta for everyone while I was there. The rooms are nice and kept very clean. No outdoor shoes are allowed inside, and the floors are cleaned several times throughout the day. For the price, this is the best hostel in all of Samui. It feels like home, and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else if I came back. Don’t hesitate to book, you won’t regret it.

I came for two days and ended up on a 23-day adventure. The cosy stay, lovely atmosphere, and time spent making friends, sharing stories, and laughing made every day here special. I also loved the body pillow and the location near the beach and local restaurants. But what really made DK1 memorable was DK1 Mama. She puts her whole heart into the place, and you can feel her love and positive energy everywhere. I’m so sad to leave, but I’m taking lifelong memories with me and can’t wait to return. DK1 Forever 💕
