The Hive Hotel Samui

We thought the location on Lamai beach was one of the best. The restaurant was good, and breakfast was okay, though it could be better. The rooms were nothing special, but the service was very good, with friendly, helpful staff. We booked a standard double room facing the Main Street. The bars played music until 05:00 in the mornings, so sleeping without earplugs was impossible. I could stay here again, but I’d book the villa instead. Taking everything into account, it’s very affordable.

Our room was tucked into a leafy garden, and it was lovely to hear the ocean from the spacious room. The Hive has a pool beside the beach, and Lamai's restaurants, bars, and shops are close by. Breakfast was excellent, and we also liked the food and drinks at the restaurant and pool. Am, Jamila, and the whole team made things easy, from arranging excursions and cars to suggesting places to eat. Am was especially kind, always greeting us with a smile, and even came to say goodbye on her day off. We had such a good stay that we hope to return to The Hive on our next trip to Koh Samui, hopefully soon. We'll recommend it to anyone heading to Lamai Beach.

For what I paid, I was happy with the stay, especially because the location is so good. The resort feels like a little jungle by the beach, and the grounds were clean and well kept. There's a massage option on the beach at a low price, plus a nice restaurant nearby. The main street is only about 50 metres from the entrance, with a 7/11, exchange, bars, and food. My room was a bit dated, though I had booked the cheapest option. The bed was decent, the hot water worked, and there was a fridge, but no mattress protector. If you want modern, chic rooms, you'd probably need to pay double somewhere else for this location. The staff were always smiling and friendly, and even offered me extra breakfast when I arrived very early, before check-in.

The deluxe villa was spacious and clean, and we had a lovely stay. The team were very friendly and helped arrange a pickup from the ferry. Laundry service was available too. Its spot right on the beach worked perfectly for the kids, with good restaurants and convenience stores outside the property. Breakfast was only moderate for us, so after two mornings we chose to eat elsewhere. The sunbeds and umbrellas could also do with replacing. Thank you!
