The spa was excellent, with professional therapists, a relaxing atmosphere, and facilities kept in very good shape. The tropical grounds are beautiful, with greenery, flowing water features, views, a beachfront position, and a peaceful feel. Housekeeping did a thorough job, and the cleaners were friendly and attentive. Service elsewhere was a letdown. There were plenty of staff around, but most seemed idle or uncertain about their roles. It felt like a management problem, individual staff issue, or possibly both. Restaurant service was extremely slow even when it wasn't busy. They also kept pushing expensive imported bottled water, which seems unnecessary and not environmentally responsible. There was no service by the beach or pool, not even complimentary drinking water. The front desk couldn't help with most requests and struggled to follow through, even on a simple clogged drain. Everything took an unusually long time, from basic help to service requests. The location and spa give Zazen a lot of potential, but service, leadership, and efficiency need significant improvement to match the setting.

The food was a highlight, whether we ate breakfast, lunch, or at one of the themed dinners by the sea. We loved spending the day relaxing by the pool and beach with the lovely setting all around us. Zazen Resort was exceptional. The villas were spacious and tastefully decorated, balancing comfort with luxury, and the staff were kind, attentive, always smiling, and made us feel welcome. The tropical gardens were lush and beautifully cared for, and the peaceful beachfront felt private.

The Signature Aromatherapy massage was pure bliss and very professional. The gift shop was handy for last-minute presents to take home, and the restaurant would be a wonderful place for a function. We'd heard great things about Zazen and it lived up to expectations. Walking through the magnificent gardens to the gorgeous restaurant, we were met by attentive staff. Our table by the water was magnificent. The seafood banquet was incredibly fresh and delicious, with lovely presentation. We paired it with an Italian Pinot Grigio from the extensive wine list, and dessert was amazing too. The details, food choices, atmosphere, and decor are all so well done. I believe the decor was updated about a year ago. The staff were engaging and happy to help with dietary needs, and very attentive without overdoing it. The backdrop is incredible. Koh Samui must do!

The staff were very nice and did a good job, though the service felt a bit forced. The food was good, but overpriced, like everything else. We also felt the place wasn't good value for money. The clientele seemed stodgy, reserved, and snobby. The room looked better in the pictures, and the so-called beach is mostly a loading area for tourist speedboats. You can't really walk anywhere. Apart from that, I guess it was okay.
