Laem Sila Resort

The owner was so friendly and helped us book tours. He also picked us up when we got back from a tour and drove us to the pier when we left. Our stay at Laem Sila made us completely happy. The room was lovely, with a beautiful balcony view of palm trees and the beach. It was cleaned every day and stayed really clean. We also got fresh coconut and 4 bottles of water for free each day. Highly recommend.

We spent two nights here and were really satisfied with our house. The rooms are spacious and built with respect for the nature, and the view is unbelievable. I’d highly recommend the property. Just be aware that the stairs make it unsuitable for children and people with disabilities. Otherwise, everything was absolutely fine.

We were 5 people in the 2 bedroom villa at the highest point for a month. The rooms, terrace, pools and views were outstanding, which is why I rated it 4 out of 5. Still, I wouldn’t stay here again if I came back to samui. It’s extremely peaceful, with beautiful, well-kept gardens, perfectly working air conditioning and 2 pools with fantastic views that we almost had to ourselves. For stays over a month, the villa is cleaned weekly and the sheets and towels are changed. There’s a washing machine and water fountain, but they’re way down many steep stairs. The “free shuttle” is a very nice 4x4 that takes you to a mini market with little to buy, and to a nearby small, beautiful beach that has lots of rocks when you enter the water. Getting around is the main problem. You absolutely need transport, and many taxis won’t go up the hill. Without renting a scooter or car, you depend on the hotel’s cars, which take you places for a fare similar to a taxi. You can’t walk anywhere, so budget for that. There are no restaurants, bars or other places within walking distance. Buy what you need at the supermarket beforehand, since Grab sometimes works but often rejects orders because of the location. If you book through Airbnb or booking, there’s no contact with those services. The hotel staff are your only contacts, and their very basic English makes communication difficult. The semi-remote mountain location also means lots of bugs and several toads on the path to the villa. Half my group didn’t mind, but I really dislike toads, so that was a big no for me. The sunbeds and terrace on the top floor were poorly maintained, broken and old. Someone at the hotel hit our scooters. When we asked for access to the cameras aimed directly at the spot so we could send the footage to insurance, they said they were broken, didn’t help, and just repeated, “it’s not our fault.” They didn’t follow up. Customer service doesn’t seem very important here. This isn’t really a “resort” so much as a homestay on private property, with no more than 5 people working there who come and go.

The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Manager Pakorn, who speaks very good English. We also liked the breakfast and the friendly dogs. The resort is on a hill, with ocean views from above ground level and a distant view of the airport, but no airport noise at all. The rooms are spacious and there are two small pools.
