Marina Beach Resort

The rooms are simple, clean, and well looked after, and the staff are helpful and nice. I spent two weeks in a hotel room here in early October, during the low season. It was quiet then, though I imagine peak season could be loud. For a 3-star hotel right on Lamai beach, it’s good for what it is, even if it isn’t fancy.

We messaged again the day after arriving and sent the booking confirmation we’d received on December 23. There was no apology or even a reply. When we first got there, we’d been told there was no record of our reservation for two bungalows. Mistakes happen, but the resort made no apology and did nothing to find a solution. After seeing the bungalows, we’re actually relieved we stayed at another hotel.

Bungalow B03 was great, and the beach is only about 30 seconds away. It’s a lovely little area, with everything you need and more within walking distance, so there’s no need to rent a scooter. Book through the resort’s website instead of Booking, or better yet, call them.

I’ve been coming back every year since 2017, usually for at least three months, and I’ve spent a lot here over the years. But after I gave feedback about things that needed improving, the owners raised my monthly cost by over 10.000 Baht/month. Awful way to treat loyal regulars, and I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. When you point out problems, they get aggressive and raise prices to get rid of you. The place is falling apart, even though it has everything it needs to be a paradise. The owners do nothing to maintain the standard. The sunbeds look like they haven’t been cleaned in 10 years, and all the furniture is filthy. The pool area is completely dark after sunset, with no lights nearby, so it’s dangerous to walk there. Awful service!
