Samui Goodwill Bungalow

The bungalows were clean and quiet, just right for a peaceful stay. The location is pretty remote, though, with places to eat or swim not close by, so you'll need a scooter. The lady was very helpful and arranged one for us. We had a really nice time here.

After a long journey, I arrived to find out from the woman at the desk that the place was fully booked, even though I'd booked through Agoda. I've heard of a few Agoda mix-ups, but if you choose to use them, you're responsible too. The woman offered to take me to a friend's bungalow nearby that was supposedly similar to what I'd booked. It turned out to be a one-star hotel in the center of samui, dark, dirty, and smelly. I checked out right away. It was horrible.

Returning the motorbike was simple and stress free, with no extra charges. I brought it back a day early and the woman kindly refunded 100bHt. She'd rented it to me for 200Baht a day, taking my passport as a deposit, and even lent me her own helmet because my head is huge. I was a complete beginner and crashed across the road almost immediately, just missing a car. She came out, helped me, and gave me a quick lesson before sending me off with a worried look. British people, keep in mind you may not be insured unless you have a full UK motorcycle license, even through your travel insurance.

The room was clean, and the owner was friendly. It's not in the city center, but for the price I paid, I was happy with it. The Pier is only 3.7km away, about a 7-minute drive.
