Samui Honey Backpacker Bungalow

The setting is nice, and the room came with lots of bottled water each day. Kirati next door is good, the BOGOF happy hour on some cocktails was okay, and the Valentine gift in our room was a thoughtful touch. But I couldn't wait to leave, and I wouldn't stay again. The rooms are dated, with shabby curtains and bedding, and the bathrooms are terrible. The shower is poor, and you can't flush paper. The small pool beside the restaurant is fairly modern and pleasant, but there are only seven loungers. Outside visitors can use the facilities all day if they spend 250 Baht, so they may take the loungers and pool space from residents. The beach loungers are filthy and aren't set up each day. Music from the pool and restaurant is very loud and plays all day, and the owner sits by the bar or restaurant playing loud videos on his phone. There aren't proper paths around the resort, so sand gets everywhere. My feet were black just from walking around the room without shoes. I think earlier reviews were very flattering. This place could be great with some updates and more care for residents, but we didn't enjoy our stay.

The beach location was good, breakfast was decent, and the pool itself was okay. The shared areas seemed in somewhat better shape than the room, though the plastic sunbeds were worn out and reception smelled strongly of sewage. Our room above reception was dated and dirty. There were brown stains on the walls, dust in easy-to-clean spots, and I had to evict a huge cockroach. We paid only 60 € per night, but even that felt like too much. The mattress was the worst part: extremely bouncy, with every spring noticeable. Whenever my partner moved even slightly, I woke up, so a good night's sleep was impossible. Reception staff weren't outright rude, but they didn't greet us, ask how the stay was, offer to arrange an airport taxi, or help with our bags. I don't need all that, but at every other hotel in Thailand the staff at least said hello when we passed.

By Choengmon Beach, Samui Honey Cottages has a cozy, relaxing feel right by the sea. Our room was clean and quiet, and the staff were warm and welcoming. A lovely spot for a peaceful, comfortable seaside break. 🌴

The rooms are spacious, really comfortable, and very nice. Everyone on staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Honestly, we could stay here for decades. If we return to Koh Samui, we'll definitely choose Honey Cottages again.
