The Cottage @ Samui

We checked out two days early and were horrified by the whole experience. The next morning, we discovered our key wouldn’t lock the door, and there was still nobody available to change the key or room or take a complaint. The key had only arrived at 11 pm the night before, when the owner came back, and it disturbed us after we’d gone to bed. We’d booked three weeks ahead, but on arrival the reception was filthy and the hotel looked abandoned. Some Thai people were around, but none seemed to work there. After waiting half an hour, we asked a woman who came out onto her bungalow porch. She said the owner was in Surat Thani all day and nobody had prepared for our arrival. She kindly showed us a bungalow, but the bathroom was disgustingly dirty, with body hair, toothpaste, and bugs everywhere. There were hairs in the bed too. We asked her to clean while we went to dinner at the restaurant down the way. It was a little better when we returned, but still not clean enough. We also didn’t have a key yet, so couldn’t leave our belongings in the room and go explore. The local who took us to Chaweng the next day said everyone thought the hotel was closed. Do not visit here.
