The Lodge Annex

I’m only rating the food, service, and beach. The beach is okay, though Koh Samui has better ones. For Fisherman village, it’s a good spot if you want some shade during the day. We weren’t hotel guests, just there for the beach. They let us use chairs on the beach, since the sunbeds are for hotel guests. Service gets 1 star from me. Nobody came to ask what we wanted, so I had to go get the menu, then walk to the restaurant to place our order. Nobody cleared our table afterward, even though we sat there for hours. I had fried rice with beef, but the beef was very tough, so I wouldn’t recommend that dish. I didn’t like the food much, and it seemed quite pricey for Thailand for low-quality fried rice. I don’t remember exactly, but I think it was 280 baht.

This review is only about communication and how our cancellation was handled. We had booked March 5 to March 7 and contacted the property 19 days before arrival because we weren’t sure we could travel. They said a refund would require proof that we couldn’t travel, but also said they might review the situation if the room was rebooked. We cancelled so it could be listed again. Afterward, the dates March 5 to March 7 appeared unavailable online, which strongly suggested the room had been booked again. Still, the property refused a refund, referring to the original cancellation policy. That may follow the booking terms formally, but we found the handling very disappointing. We cancelled early and cooperated so the room could be offered again, yet we’re the ones left with the financial loss. In a place that depends on tourism, we expected much more fairness and goodwill toward guests.

The staff were so friendly, and I couldn’t ask for a more convenient location. We had no noise issues, though it might be noisy if you’re in bed before 11:30. Perfect hotel!

We were made to feel right at home during our relaxing three-week stay. The staff were so kind and welcoming, especially June. The room was comfortable, kept clean and made up daily, and just steps from the sea, so the setting felt wonderfully peaceful. After eating at several places around the area, we thought the hotel restaurant was the best. The meals were delicious and reasonably priced. Thanks to everyone for a lovely stay. We’ll definitely return!
