The Sun Pool Villa

The villa is quiet, and it has a pool, but it wasn't worth the money. Even the pool became unusable during our last week because it had gone green. We asked several times for it to be cleaned, but it was cleaned only once, even though the contract included weekly pool cleaning. The weekly house cleaning in the contract didn't happen either. At most, they swept the driveway. I had to buy my own cleaning supplies, and they refunded 1,000 baht from the 2,000 baht cleaning charge because they hadn't done the weekly clean. The place was in poor repair. One patio door came completely off, and luckily I wasn't standing there when it happened because there was broken glass everywhere. I also saw them trying to fix the same problem at the next-door villa. Other issues included broken doors, a broken table, an old kitchen in disrepair, and TVs that were useless unless you're Thai, since they weren't smart TVs. The beds were like concrete, and with my joint problems I didn't get a single good night's sleep. The fridge-freezer didn't get cold, there was no ice, and food spoiled within a day. The shower water was brown and smelled metallic, and a bad smell behind the villa meant we couldn't open the windows. Only one door locked, so we had to move anything valuable every time we left. The electricity and water charges were far above the government rates, and laundry for bedding was charged too. The deposit was 50,000, while I saw 3,000 on another site. Rubbish wasn't collected regularly, so flies became a problem. Parking was almost impossible at the bottom villas. The pool walkway got very slippery because the pool leaked. There were no decent outdoor chairs, just two folding camping chairs and a table that collapsed if you put more than one cup on it. There were no parasols, and many deck chairs were defective. The staff disappeared after we paid. They keep one renovated villa to show, but that definitely isn't the standard you get, as the photos show. The one vague positive is the quiet, as long as you're fine with the next-door villa's dog pooing and being sick in your tiny garden. I know criticizing things in Thailand is considered bad form, but I'm writing this for future bookings.
