The bungalows are gorgeous, very clean, and have an amazing view. It’s worth the effort of getting up the hill. Rose and Libor were great hosts, sharing lots of tips, lending us snorkels, and making us feel at home. We had breakfast every morning, and it was the best we had in Thailand, especially the homemade bread and fantastic crepes. If you want to get around Koh Tao, rent a bike, taxis are quite expensive.

The owner was very polite and helpful, and the bungalows themselves were nice. Getting there was the problem. The property sits high on a hill, very far out, with no concrete road for at least 500 meters. Some parts of the slope felt scary and were difficult on a motorbike. The location should be described more clearly. We left to find somewhere easier to reach.

Even though we’ve stayed in plenty of basic places during our trip through Thailand, this resort was where we felt most uncomfortable. The owners were unfriendly and disrespectful. The woman seemed to hate having guests, and we felt uncomfortable speaking to her. The man’s mood could swing from relaxed and friendly to very unfriendly within ten minutes. They didn’t care about our individual needs. From the first day of our six-day stay, we didn’t want to walk over their path. The bungalows weren’t completely closed, which was fine with us, but on the first night a gecko shat in our bed. When we asked the owner to change the sheet the next day, he did it reluctantly and said he wouldn’t change it a second time. He also blamed us. That’s just one example. If we hadn’t paid in advance, we’d have left after the first night, even though we’re not usually demanding people. The location was bad for us. Sai deng beach is completely built up, and the long walk isn’t worth it. Shark bay has a beautiful beach, but the whole area belongs to haad tien resort and you have to pay 100THB to enter. There’s a motorbike rental near the resort, but it’s the most expensive on Koh Tao, and you have to rent there or walk up the mountain to the hotel. We booked expecting a quiet place, but heard loud music all night one night. Even though the place is nice, we’d never come back.

Set among the forest, the bungalows are beautiful and rustic, and the owners are warm and wonderful. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back.

If you want to switch off after days of busy life, don’t miss this place. It has peace, quiet, nature, and relaxation all at once.
