Deishaview Jungle Hostel

A solid hostel, with great facilities, a comfortable bed, and helpful staff. There are so many people that building a community can be hard, but you’ll find a friend or two. Yoga on the roof is a blast. One night it was pouring rain, so I ordered dinner here and was really glad I did. Get a bike while you’re on Koh Tao. Riding up the hill isn’t scary, and the view is great for sunset. I’d recommend it!

We ended up making friends with the other guests, which made this feel like more than just a hostel stay. The lobby and bedroom are both cozy, and it’s really good value: you spend less and get more than you’d expect. Better than a standard hostel. Highly recommend.

The rooftop yoga at 5pm was a real highlight, and the view is incredible. The hostel has a social feel if you want to meet people, but there’s room to just relax too. The cats and dogs are lovely. Beds were clean and comfortable, and the food is decent, which is handy since it’s a bit out of the way. Getting there takes some effort: the steps down are manageable if you’re fit, but don’t underestimate them. The road up is steep and winding, so don’t try walking it. A moped is fine if you’re not a complete beginner. There are no hot showers or shelves by the beds, which I found odd. I loved my stay.

I had a good time overall. The hostel is cool, with a lovely view from its hilltop spot beside a really cozy cafe. The scuba course was a different story: it felt less pleasant and almost unsafe. When I tried to raise this, they made me feel like I was being difficult and didn’t offer a solution. I’d suggest booking the diving course separately from the hostel if you visit Koh Tao.
