Happy Bungalow

The port isn't far away. Our room was basic but spacious, with a comfortable bed, air conditioning, and a fan. The owner is lovely, and her family runs the business with her. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and we felt safe during our stay.

The air conditioning also struggles when a lot of guests in the complex are running theirs. But what made this stay so upsetting was the argument about an extra night. We'd booked and paid for three nights. On our last evening we asked the owner, an older woman, if we could add one more. She was friendly, offered a discount, and we paid. The following day she came over demanding payment again. We said we'd already paid, but she insisted we hadn't, became hysterical, and told us to gather our things and leave immediately. It was shocking and humiliating. Only after we insisted she check the security cameras did she accept that we'd paid, then said we'd need to add money to make up the full price. She insultingly told us to leave the next morning and never come back, as though we'd done something wrong. The whole thing felt hurtful and degrading.

If you're on a motorcycle, the location works well, right beside Koh Tao's biggest road. Walking to Sairee Beach instead takes about 20-30 minutes. The owner was helpful in every way and gave very good service, but the bungalows were far below the quality I expected for the price. We thought we'd get more for our money.

The location is wonderful and the staff were great. The rooms, though, are kind of ugly and hot, even with the AC on.
