Indie Hostel - Koh Tao

Half of the laundry we handed over at the hostel disappeared, and somehow we were treated as if it were our fault. Staff showed no empathy and didn’t really try to help. The only refund was the 70 baht laundry fee, even though more than 2,000 baht worth of clothes were lost. They require a 2,000 baht deposit per person for a lost key or stained towel, but when guests’ belongings go missing, they take no responsibility. Very disappointing. We expected at least basic accountability and customer care.

Avoid this hostel. I left clothes with the laundry service and they lost three quarters of them. They also returned a pair of pants torn, and the receptionist said it was my fault and that I’d torn them myself. There was no empathy, compensation, or real apology. They charged an enormous security deposit for just one night, too. Expect a very unfriendly, unprofessional welcome and poor treatment.

I spent five nights in the private room with a friend, and it was very small. The shared room is comfortable and tidy, just as pictured. The hostel is fairly quiet, but in my opinion it isn’t really somewhere to socialize. Everything else was okay.

Great team and a really good location, just 100m from the beach. The rooms are very clean, the AC works great, and the shower has a mountain view. Would highly recommend!
