Long House

We've eaten here two days running, and for me it's one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to. I've visited Koh Tao six times, tried Michelin-recommended places, and taken cooking courses, so that's saying something. My general tip is to order at least a little spicy, since Thai food doesn't taste right otherwise. The stir-fried squid was great, the Tom yum even better, and the green curry fried rice was a revelation. The staff are really nice and helpful, even if there's a bit of a wait when they're full.

We went every evening during our stay and tried different dishes each time. Not one disappointed, and at lunch we tried other restaurants for comparison, but this was clearly the winner. Portions are huge, prices very affordable, and the atmosphere is great. Service was quick and helpful. My favorites were the fragrant Tom Yum rice, with strong fresh garlic and a great spice level, and the sweeter, more balanced Mama Noodle. The mango sticky rice was perfect too, with beautifully ripe mango. Some places serve it unripe and bitter. If you ask for spicy here, be careful, it really is spicy, which was a pleasant surprise. Best food on all of Koh Tao for me. You won't regret it!

I'd hesitated because of the mixed reviews, but honestly, I loved it. It was the best food I'd had in a while, and every dish we tried was delicious. The mango sticky rice was the best I've had too: fresh, warm, and a big portion that's perfect for sharing. :)

It was our second night in Koh Tao and our second dinner here, and I'll keep coming back for the rest of my stay. They handle vegan and vegetarian food really well. After I ordered Tofu Pad Thai, they checked whether I wanted egg in it. The papaya salad is great, and the place is always full with a nice vibe.
