Family Tree Hotel

We booked the “Suite Deluxe” for one night. The room was clean and neat, and the staff were friendly, but we were disappointed to be told in the evening that using the sofa bed, which the room description said was included, would cost extra. The cafe entrance seemed charming at first. In the morning, though, the cafe staff seemed bothered by guests passing through, and we felt like we were in the way.

We asked to change rooms, but the front desk said they were fully booked. There was a lot of dust on the bathroom fan, and it needed cleaning. The bigger concern was mold around the A/C unit. When we asked the front desk to look at it, she said, “you can’t clean it, you have to paint over it”. I’m no expert, but from what I read online, that didn’t sound like the right fix, and it left me wondering what might be behind the walls. There was also plenty of noise from downstairs. My partner got sick the next day. I can’t say if it was related, but his cold and sore throat had cleared up by the day we left.

I thought it deserved five stars and was very good overall. The climbing chairs make it a poor fit for anyone with mobility problems, and the Wi-Fi wasn’t very reliable.

We only spent a night here, so I can’t say much about the service, though the people who checked us in were lovely. The room was clean and very nice, and the A/C worked well. Great location, right by the river and near the night markets. A great place to stay.
