Asia Airport Hotel

I booked through the website thinking I was reserving a room at Asia Bangkok Hotel, but the booking was actually for Asia Airport Hotel. There wasn't a clear distinction or warning. When I contacted them, they wouldn't move the reservation, despite both hotels being part of the same brand, and stuck to a strict no-refund policy. It felt misleading and unfair, especially since they could have offered a simple solution instead of enforcing the penalty with no flexibility. Customer service made no effort to sort it out, particularly Ms. Kunrada Lohakulvanich. That level of support was unacceptable for a hospitality business. Check carefully before booking, and consider another hotel if you want to avoid this kind of experience. I'm very disappointed and won't return.

If you're heading out on an early flight from Mueng, being just a few minutes from the airport is useful. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere: the area felt dull when I walked around, and there are much better vacation options at the same price. The hotel is at least ten years old, with decent, clean rooms that aren't anything special and an okay breakfast buffet. There's a small mall attached, mostly selling tech, camping gear, and assorted odds and ends. It has a McDonald's and Starbucks, but little else.

The location is handy, above a shopping mall and across from a local night market. But the room facilities are dated, and I found several cockroaches. I killed two or three, and there were still more under the table. It made for a very poor stay, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel.

The gym is okay and the location is decent, but that's about all I can say in its favor. The booking-site photos look like they were taken 27 years ago when the hotel opened, and don't match what I saw. In my room, the air conditioner rattled and banged like an old tractor beside the bed. It was unbearably noisy. Most staff didn't speak any English; at best, maybe 5% could explain things. There were also cockroaches running around the room. For what they charge, it's shameful.
