Baan Krating Pai Resort

Korn at reception was especially kind and helpful, and the service was perfect. The pool is lovely, though cold, with plenty of room around it to relax. There aren't enough deckchairs, though. It was so quiet among the trees and birds that I slept really well.

I’m a very light sleeper, so quiet nights matter a lot to me. At Baan Krating I slept deeply and woke up feeling rested. There was no dog barking, 3:30 rooster wake-up, or loud motorbike traffic nearby, unlike the other five places I tried while looking for a month-long stay. A lot of guests return for the peaceful nights. The location is about five minutes by motorbike from almost everything, and I could run along the nearby road without dogs jumping at me. After a morning run, the pool was great. It was cool, but I didn’t find a warm pool anywhere in northern Thailand in December. A few more sunbeds would be nice, though that’s a small thing. The place is quiet and relaxing, and the staff are super friendly. The outside looks quite old, and sometimes the garden seems a little messy, but neither affected my stay. The room is well cared for. Keeping the place older also makes it easier on my wallet. If it were newly built with a Japanese garden and all the same advantages, I think it would cost four times as much. It’s a real gem if you want restful sleep and to enjoy everything Pai has to offer with a fresh mind and body. There are two balconies with mosquito-net doors, so I let a nice breeze into the room for an hour before bed.

Korn gave me a huge bunch of 25 bananas on a spring day. I also loved having access to the pool whenever I could swim. Living there for a while was lovely, almost like being in paradise.

Breakfast was both tasty and filling, and the outdoor pool was excellent. It's a really beautiful resort in Pai, though the Wi-Fi and bath towels could be better.
