Baan Mai Guesthouse

The room at Sarm Mork Guest House was very basic, with the essentials for a comfortable stay but few of the modern amenities I’m used to. If you prefer a rustic, minimal setup over luxury, it could suit you, as long as you’re prepared for that simplicity. The guest house is surrounded by beautiful nature in a breathtaking location, and the staff were hospitable. The peaceful setting helped make up for the plain room.

It’s right beside the lake, with plenty of restaurants nearby. We couldn’t go hiking because of the heat, but we’ll definitely come back. The owners were lovely and very helpful. Our bungalow was clean and well designed, with a really comfortable bed. They also offer laundry service and have parking.

The owners were lovely, and the bungalow was spotless, with a firm comfortable bed, a good shower, and AC. It seemed newly built and had the basics covered, including a fridge and kettle. I only booked one night at first, then added another. A handy stop on my MHS loop, with the lake and night market food just five minutes away. A nice way to support local owners.

The weak WiFi was the one real drawback. It made sorting out onward travel online difficult. Otherwise, I was very happy here: my bungalow was tidy, very clean, and seemed almost new, with more privacy than I've found at other guest houses. Restaurants and town conveniences are close, and I could park my motorbike right outside the door, well away from the street. I'd stay again next time I'm in Mae Hong Son.
