Ngamta Hotel

The room itself was fine, but this wasn’t a good experience. We’d booked three rooms ahead for over 2,000B each, then on arrival Google was quoting under 1,400B. Prices seem to move up and down daily, and this is not a luxury hotel. The plastic flowers everywhere and watered-down soap and shampoo felt tacky. Breakfast was appalling: cold, rubbery fried eggs that had been cooked in advance. There was an expensive coffee machine, but it had a sheet over it, so we got instant coffee. Cold eggs and instant coffee don’t fit the first-class prices.

The night market is right at the hotel entrance, which makes the location great. The building is old and run-down, and the price seems high for what you get. The AC and hot water worked fine, and breakfast was included.

I had the price wrong at first: it was actually 1200 Baht a night, not the 600 Baht I thought I’d paid. Still a good stay, just not the bargain I’d imagined. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the decor fairly simple. A/C, hot water, and Wi-Fi were all good. It felt like a standard 3-star hotel, though the areas outside the room were a little below that. Breakfast was simple but included.

The service was nice, and breakfast was free, though I didn’t have any. I left after one night and didn’t even ask for a refund for the other two nights. The room had mouse poop and spiders, and the old blue bathroom tiles felt creepy. Turning on the faucet sent water shooting at me. The bed was very firm, and the layout didn’t work well: the small seating area was useless, so the end of the bed was the best place to sit at the counter or desk. The location is convenient for the night market, pond, and temple, but that also meant loud music and chanting over the temple speakers.
