Herntai Resort

The owner's restaurant served good food, and the owner was friendly. We spent two nights here and really enjoyed it. The pool has a lovely view, and since it was low season it was very quiet and relaxing.

The room wasn’t as clean as we’d expected, and we noticed insects and ants. Breakfast was quite limited and not satisfying, and when we needed help, nobody was available at reception. The setting is lovely among the rice fields, with wonderful views, a romantic feel, and a nice pool.

The place itself is beautiful, and I loved it when I came at the end of February last year. I returned because I liked it so much, but this time the food was a huge letdown. It was the worst food I’ve had in Thailand so far, which seems hard to manage since Thai people usually know how to cook. There was also loud noise from what seemed like a karaoke bar nearby when we went to bed. It took a while to stop, and I couldn’t fall asleep. Eat somewhere else, and if noise doesn’t bother your sleep, it’s a beautiful place. If you’re a light sleeper and care about good food, it’s not for you.

We found this hidden gem while riding a motorcycle around northern Thailand. The resort was clean and tidy, and the staff were friendly and attentive to what we needed. Our room was nice, with a private outdoor bathtub overlooking the rice fields, and the pool is a good size with the same kind of view. The barista used locally sourced espresso beans, and her cappuccinos were heavenly.
