CAMP Ta Torn Yorn

**** High alert, read this before booking. **** I felt completely unsafe at night. The property is so open that an unwelcome visitor could come in at any time, and safety is the main reason I wouldn’t return. There were also lots of mosquitoes, and the bathroom water ran very slowly. We couldn’t use the bathroom because the water valve had been shut off for repairs. They knew guests were checking in, but it hadn’t been prepared. There was no water from the taps and we couldn’t flush the toilet. When the water did run, the jacuzzi was full of leaves and dirt, and the water was yellow. My daughter developed a rash after staying one night. There was no TV signal at all during our stay. We had a child who sometimes needs to watch television, and we couldn’t watch anything. I called staff twice before someone came to look. They said it was because the hotel is in a remote area, which didn’t make sense to me since internet service was available and a smart TV could be used. The bill was overcharged. We brought our own bottle from the room to breakfast, but the waitress charged more than the actual order. Breakfast was grilled pork with sticky rice, served cold. I don’t think grilled pork should be served cold. Orange juice was the only drink included, and I understood we’d need to pay extra for water, but then staff gave us at least five bottles for free just before we left. I also found large stinging caterpillars around the playground, which could be dangerous for children and adults with allergies. There was no outdoor theatre as advertised. Some of the staff were nice.

The sunrise from our room balcony was superb. Staff were so friendly and lovely with the kids that one of them brought their two puppies to the camp every day for our children. Fishing was fun too. At first, a staff member baited the hooks for us, so we only had to move the rod around. The next afternoon he was busy preparing food for the chickens, so we did it ourselves, which turned out to be even more fun.

There were plenty of activities, and the place was clean, the food was delicious, and the staff gave great service. I brought my family along with my brother’s family to relax. Too bad we wanted to call some entertainers, but his wife wouldn’t let us. 😅

Warning! The resort was full of mosquitoes, and there was no outdoor movie as promised. When we arrived there was no water. Once it came on, it looked yellowish and dirty. We couldn’t collect eggs either because the booths they provided were only small sizes. We were overcharged for food. I clearly ordered a dish for my daughter and said “not spicy,” but they brought spicy Pad Kraprao. I explained that she couldn’t eat it and needed another one, so the kitchen made a second Pad Kraprao and took the spicy one away. At checkout, they charged us for two dishes. When I asked why, they blamed us for not specifying “no chilli at all.” I said that if they considered it our fault, why had they taken the first dish away instead of letting us keep both? They couldn’t answer and kept telling me to be clearer next time. There won’t be a next time. There are much more beautiful resorts around there with a better service attitude. Don’t waste your time. The manager who insisted the overcharge was my fault was named “Toy.” I have little hope with a manager who behaves like that.
