Mai Siam Resort

Everything was wonderful here. The owners were lovely, breakfast was delicious, and the cats were cute. Amazing stay, highly recommend!

Eric and Pranee made us feel like family. They welcomed us so warmly, and we had a long, good chat with them after dinner, sharing life stories and gardening tips. The room was very clean, neat, and well maintained. You could see the effort to provide the amenities you'd expect in a hotel, not just a homestay. We chose to spend a night here because we were visiting attractions nearby. It turned out to be more than just a place to sleep, and we'll visit them again next time we're in Chiangmai.

After the first couple of days, Eric and Pranee took us to nearby hot springs, which were somewhat interesting but a bit touristy, then on a very interesting waterfall outing through a nearby hill village. Pranee cooked a wonderful dinner and gave us cooking lessons, letting us choose the dishes we liked best. It was a very different experience from cities in Thailand or an ordinary "resort." I'd highly recommend it if you want a break from the bustle of bangkok or chiang mai, and a better feel for everyday Thai life while meeting interesting, lovely people. My girlfriend and I stayed two nights at Mai Siam. On arrival, we weren't quite sure what to expect, but our hosts Eric & Pranee quickly made us feel welcome, showed us our spacious, clean, very nice room, and took us to the local market. We picked out food for dinner and tried local snacks we wouldn't otherwise have tasted. It was clear this was the kind of experience that's hard to recreate. We appreciated how Pranee, a local thai, could talk with Thai people, while Eric, French, understood our Western reservations and attitudes.
