Royal Orchid Park

I’ve stayed here many times. It used to cost 450 baht a night, and by the end of 2025 the rate was 490 baht. They take a 300 baht key deposit. Parking is plentiful, both beneath the building and out front in the courtyard. The water pressure is good and the hot water works well. Check that the breaker above the door is switched on. There are also breakers for everything in the room, apart from the one in the bathroom, so the electrical setup feels very safe. Each room has its own internet connection, with the username and password on the phone in the room. The signal is very strong. There’s also a large, sturdy fire escape staircase that would be easy to use in an emergency.

I came to Mae Rim district for business and stayed in room 110 in March 2026. At 490 baht a night, I thought the price was good. The 300 baht key deposit was returned when I left. Check-in is at 2 pm and check-out is before noon. If you want to arrive before noon, they charge another 200 baht. A good trick, I guess. The shower pressure wasn’t very strong, even on the first floor, though the toilet flush was powerful, lol. The rate doesn’t include breakfast. Nearby hotels don’t offer it either and cost more, like the Orchid Hotel, so this place is more budget-friendly. People on motorbikes are welcome too. It’s easy to find if you follow the map, near the government center intersection and beside the women’s prison. The bathroom floor is uneven, so watch your step. It might once have had a bathtub, but that’s only a guess. The place must have been busier in the past, and there seem to be fewer guests now. Maybe some out-of-towners, me included, take the wrong tunnel exit, haha. It works for an overnight stay, and if you’re visiting Chiang Mai, Mae Rim, or Mae Taeng, you could stay for several days. It’s the kind of place you might want to return to.

The room is spacious and the price is reasonable, but the toilet seat was really dirty and they wouldn’t replace it. I was too grossed out to use it. 🥹🥲😅

It’s in a good location and easy to find. The room is old, though, the water heater doesn’t work, and the bed has gone soft with age.
