We left because the noise got to us. The hotel is on a very busy street, with traffic and restaurants playing loud music. Apart from that, it was great, and the room had everything we needed. We arrived late, but the staff helped us get settled in.

The views are unforgettable, and the staff are friendly. The place is right on the MHS loop, near a gas station and next to a restaurant. In the mountains, cell service can be scarce, so book well ahead. I nearly missed the last room after waiting until we were on our way from MHS to book, when there was no signal or internet on the road. Watch your step inside and out, since the floorboards creak and can be uneven. The front of the house has sunk a few inches over the years, and bathroom water doesn’t drain down the pipes. It can get slippery when you enter.

The young woman on staff was kind and tried to help when I first raised the problems, but this place needs renovation to offer clean rooms. I booked two nights and couldn’t last beyond one. I stayed awake the whole time because I couldn’t sleep in either bed. The rooms were dark and dated, and both had a powerful moldy smell. If you have a mold allergy, do not stay here. Neither room had anywhere to hang or store clothes. There were bugs and spiders on the sheets of both beds. The pretty French-style doors were uneven, so I stuffed tissue into the gaps, but in the morning I found another door that wouldn’t close all the way. There was no way to keep bugs, spiders, lizards, and so on out. My first room wasn’t ready before check-in: when I tried to hang my very worn towel, I found huge cobwebs on the rack. I also asked to switch rooms because I thought there was something in there with me, maybe a lizard. The walkway and stairs to the room are a serious safety hazard. The wooden slats are so uneven that you have to walk carefully to avoid tripping. The owner could keep the atmosphere they want while making sure the rooms are clean. Please replace the towels and fix the doors and windows so they close properly and securely. The front doors to the rooms do close securely.

From the deck you can watch the river and the sun setting over distant hills. The view is pretty majestic, especially from the peaceful river-facing rooms, which cost more but are still worth considering. The place is surprisingly cozy for an overnight stop. Comfort is okay, though some people may expect too much. The larger rooms can sleep three, with a king bed and a single bed beside it. Prices are higher than some nearby options, but I think the value is there. My shower was mostly broken and had no warm water, though in Thailand’s heat that wasn’t a big problem. Recommended.

The coffee shop offers lots of drinks, though no meals. Our room wasn’t modern, but it was clean, and they cleaned it when we asked. The staff were friendly and helpful. One staff member who spoke English checked on us each day.
