I couldn't stay because the place was fully booked, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. The assistant general manager went out of his way to find me somewhere nearby for the night. I came back for dinner at the excellent, very affordable restaurant and had a lovely evening. It usually closes at 6pm unless a coach load of tourists is booked in. And don't be put off by the 2star label on Google Maps, it easily meets a 4 star standard.

The garden full of flowers makes a lovely backdrop, and the blue sky only adds to the photos. We enjoyed the food at the restaurant too. It’s a beautiful spot to take pictures.

Walking through the rice fields and looking at the paintings in the gallery were highlights. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the service was great. It’s a little pricey, but I think it’s worth it. This feels like a family estate, lovingly kept in memory of the owner’s painter mother and wife, rather than a place driven by commerce. A hidden gem in Chiang Dao.
