The hotel was clean and well maintained, and breakfast was fresh and really good. There’s also a nearby restaurant that delivers lunch and dinner. The owner was extremely helpful, knowledgeable about local history, and gave us a good rate for tours and transport to nearby attractions. We learned a lot about getting around. The atmosphere and staff were very nice. We highly recommend this hotel.

We had to use cash because they refused to take Visa, even though I’d provided my card details when booking and had been told payment would be due on arrival. I was lucky to have cash with me, since I usually use Visa. Another review mentioned “dining,” but there’s no dining service, only breakfast. It’s set out at 0700, so later everything is cold. There’s no coffee, just packets of powder, milk powder, and sugar, and ants had got over all the food. When I asked for black coffee, they said, “no have.” Someone else mentioned beer, but where from? There’s no service at all. The room was OK, but cleaning wasn’t up to an acceptable standard. There was no hot water in the bathroom, and shower water went everywhere, which felt dangerous. The shower fittings were corroded, the toilet seat wasn’t secured, and the room safe was loose on a shelf, not bolted down, so someone could just pick it up and leave. The whole place needs maintenance. There was no phone in the room, and the satellite TV had no international channels. We were the only guests, which was sad because the place could be a good hotel. There didn’t seem to be any staff apart from the same lady I saw each day. Room service was nonexistent. At 1700, the bed was still unmade, even though I’d put “make up room” on the door at 0900. Anyone with mobility problems should know there are two very steep stairs to climb with luggage, which is almost impossible. There may be more, but I simply won’t be back and can’t recommend it.

They’re open 24 hours, which really helped us after two hours on mountain roads, when the other hotels had closed at 8 in the evening. The hotel is in a beautiful spot and looks quite expensive, but a large room was only 1000 baht. It had two beds, one for two people and a smaller one, a clean bathroom, TV, hot tea and coffee, and breakfast in the morning. In the evening there’s nothing to eat, though, as all the nearby places were closed after sunset.

As part of our Tuk Tuk Club tour, this was a lovely base for the first couple of days. It’s a beautiful hotel with an old-fashioned feel. I wouldn’t choose to stay here on my own, but it worked perfectly as part of the trip.
