Hop Inn Mahasarakham

I paid 600-700 baht and found it a pretty good deal. The hotel is affordable and sleep is reasonably comfortable, even if it isn't perfect. The bed and pillows are very comfortable, and the bathroom is clean and convenient, with soap and shampoo provided. There's no conditioner, but that wasn't a big deal. A hairdryer would be a nice addition. Noise was the main problem for me as a light sleeper. The walls and doors are thin, so I could hear conversations, packing, doors opening and people walking past from the neighboring rooms and hallway. I was woken often. The curtains also leave some gaps, so light comes in. If you need a completely dark room to sleep, this may not suit you. Maybe I'm just particular. There are also lots of black ants. Don't leave snacks or anything tempting on the table. Right now, my computer is covered with ants.

The room was quite small, but clean. The bathroom was clean too, though there was pubic hair on the floor when we arrived. We accepted that and cleaned it ourselves. The bed and pillows were comfortable, but they could add more pillows or cushions for people who need one beside them to sleep. Sound carries through the walls, so we heard noise from the next room and a dog barking at the neighboring house.

For the second time, I stayed at this clean little hotel in a convenient location. The rooms are nice, and it offers excellent value. The gardens are lovely. My one complaint is that there isn't enough car parking.

We had paid in advance for two nights, but left without staying even one. The place smelled bad and was filthy, with mosquitoes buzzing around, an unclean fridge, and long cobwebs hanging in the bathroom. The bathroom also smelled of raw sewage. We found another new hotel that was perfect and didn't ask for our money back. I don't understand how this place got so many good reviews or a four-star rating. The photos in the advert didn't match what we found.
